PERBEDAAN PERSEPSI PENANGANAN LUKA BAKAR DERAJAT 1 DAN 2 PADA MAHASISWA KEPERAWATAN DAN MAHASISWA TEKNIK MESIN UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
Burns is type of trauma with a fairly high incidence, estimated as many as 265,000 people die annually due to fire. Incorrect treatment causing complications such as dehydration, circulation disorder, renal malfunction, psychological trauma due to disability and death. Health students were represented by nursing students and non-health students were represented by mechanical engineering students should have good perception of first aid on 1st and 2nd degree burns and because of that reason this research was performed to find out the difference perception of first aid on 1st and 2nd degree among nursing students and mechanical engineering students. This research was an non-experimental quantitative research as descriptive comparative with cross sectional approach. The sample of this study consisted of 93 respondents from nursing students and 93 respondents from mechanical engineering students with accidental sampling technique. The research was conducted at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta in November 2017 until March 2018. The measuring instrument in this research using questionnaire with likert scale, while hypothesis analysis using non parametric test of Mann-Whitney. The result of this research indicated that majority respondent based on gender are dominated by female 69,9% in nursing students, and male in mechanical engineering students (92,5%), and the majority of respondents was Javanese tribe. The result of perception in nursing students was dominated by enough category as much as 65 respondents (69,9%), while mechanical engineering students was dominated by less category with 78 respondent (83,9%). The result of the Mann-Whitney test analysis obtained p = 0,000. The conclusion of this research was showed that there are different perceptions of first aid on 1st and 2nd degree burns in nursing students and mechanical engineering students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Subsequent research can be done qualitatively to avoid biased and complement the study.
