RANCANG BANGUN IPRESENCE: UMY BEACON SMART ATTENDANCE BERBASIS IOT (INTERNET OF THINGS)
Abstract
Presence is a fundamental requirement for institutions, companies, or offices. Every institution has members, employees, or workers that needs a presence for attendance data collection. Presence can be used as an analysis of the effect of some aspects of attendance. For example like in college. Every student and lecturer are required to attend. However, presence nowaday is still using conventional way. Lecturers and students put signature presence on paper. It causes some problems. It could waste of paper and easy to cheat. iPresence is an application that could make presence more effective and efficient. iPresence is an Internet of Things (IoT) based application with beacons with Bluetooth version 4. Beacons will transmit its identity through signals and will be received by android devices. Furthermore, android will connect with database to translate beacon identity into the name of the classrooms in accordance with the identity of the beacon. List of classrooms will be delivered to device. Finally, list of classrooms will be displayed. User chooses the classroom and after that, the apllication will show the list of available courses. Writer did some test, consist of functionality testing and the effect between distance to transmit power and receiving power. Functionality testing is involving 17 devices, where all devices success to install and make attendance, but there is 1 device that failed to do attendance because there is a problem with the bluetooth device. The effect of distance to the transmit power testing has found the conclusion that the as far the distance between beacons with android devices, the value of RSSI will be smaller. Whereas if the value of transmission power (transmission power) on beacon is greater, then the maximum range of beacon will be getting farther.
