This research aimed to find out: (1) student’s reading interest in Japanese text; (2) Nihongo Nouryoku Shiken N3 results; (3) the influence of student’s reading interest in Japanese text on Nihongo Nouryoku Shiken N3 results on student of Japanese Language Education Department of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Year 2017/2018. This research is a study that employed quantitative descriptive method. The variables which being examined are reading interest in Japanese text (X) and the result of Nihongo Nouryoku Shiken N3 (Y). Data is taken from 30 respondent using non-probability sampling technique. This research is an ex post facto research which the data collected through questionnarie and document. Data are analyzed by utilizing Pearson correlation and simple regression formula by SPSS 23 application. The result of this research shows: (1) student’s reading interest in Japanese text included in the medium category (76.7%); (2) Nihongo Nouryoku Shiken N3 results included in the medium category (66.7%); (3) reading interest in Japanese text has not significant influence to the result of Nihongo Nouryoku Shiken N3 which has value of tcount 1.607 < ttabel 2.048. The significance value as many as 0.119 and R Square as many as 8.4% with regression equation is Y = 9.078 + 0.222 X.
