KEPENTINGAN KORPORASI DIBALIK KEPUTUSAN DONALD TRUMP MENARIK DIRI DARI TPP TAHUN 2017
Abstract
A country’s foreign policy from time to time is always changing in accordance with the issues that faced, and it depends on the actor who made that policy. The existence of non-state actors can give the influence in the making of a policy. The issues of international cooperation are currently taking attention of the United States, one of them is the negotiation of TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership). When Donald Trump was elected to be the President of the United States, Trump made a controversial policy by withdrawing form the TPP Negotiations.
This study will focus on the motivating factors behind the decision of Donald Trump drew the United States from the TPP Negotiations. In this study the authors use the qualitative method that are explanative, using secondary data. To analize, the author uses the concept of foreign policy and rational choice theory. The results of this study indicate that the existence of business corporation groups in the United States give influence for Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from TPP negotiations, through campaign contributions they provided at the 2016 general election.
