PENGGUNAAN TEKNIK TELL-SHOW-DO DENGAN VIDEO ANIMASI PENCABUTAN GIGI DALAM MENINGKATKAN AMBANG RASA SAKIT PENCABUTAN GIGI PADA ANAK USIA PRASEKOLAH DI RUMAH SAKIT GIGI DAN MULUT UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
Background:Fear can decrease the patients pain threshold, so it leads to increase the pain while treatment. Tell-Show-Do is wellknown that method used to decrease the fear of patient. Tell-Show-Do require the doctor to explain each step of the treatment to the patient using simple words that easily understand. The objective of this research is to know the effect of using Tell-Show-Do method by showing tooth extraction animated video to increase the pain threshold of pre-school patient at Rumah Sakit Gigi dan Mulut Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta
Methods: This research used Quasi Experimental Non-Equivalent Post-Test only control group design. There were two groups used in this research, control group and intervention group. The pre-school patients as subject were given tooth extraction animated video before getting treatment. Researcher filling Wong Baker Face Ratting Scale based on patient expression during the treatment. The data analyzed using Mann Whithey Signed Rank Test.
Results:Mann Whitney Parametric Test showed p-value 0.010 (<0.05). Based on the result, there was the effect of using Tell-Show-Do method by showing tooth extraction animated video to increase the pain threshold of pre-school patient at Rumah Sakit Gigi dan Mulut Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta.
Conclusion:The conclusion of this research is there was the effect of using Tell-Show-Do method by showing tooth extraction animated video to increase the pain threshold of pre-school patient at Rumah Sakit Gigi dan Mulut Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta.
