PERBEDAAN KEKUATAN FLEKSURAL DAN KEKUATAN TARIK BAHAN RESIN AKRILIK POLIMERISASI PANAS BERBAGAI KETEBALAN
Abstract
Background: The disadvantage of acrylic resin mechanical properties, which is fragile, from the base resin artificial tooth is of great concern. One of the ways for preventing fracture is that the strength of the acrylic plate base can be increased by increasing the thickness of the acrylic plate base.
Objective: This study is aimed to know the difference between transverse strength and tensile strength from heat-cured acrylic resinwith various thicknesses.
Method: This study uses laboratory experimental type. The sample of the study included 40 heat-cured acrylic resin samples consisting of 20 heat-cured acrylic resin samples for fleksural testing and 20 heat-cured acrylic resin samples for tensile testing. Data analysis used one way ANOVA.
Result: The result of transverse strength of heat-cured acrylic resin with thickness of 1 mm is 55.026743 N/mm2, with thickness of 1.5 mm is 56.505287 N/mm2, with thickness of 2 mm is 63.045970 N/mm2 and thickness of 2.5 mm is 54.723299 N/mm2. The result of the research of tensile strength of heat-cured acrylic resinwith the thickness of 1 mm is 55.026743 N/mm2, with the thickness of 1.5 mm is 56.505287 N/mm2, with the thickness of 2 mm is 63.045970 N/mm2 and with the thickness of 2.5 mm is 54.723299 N/mm2.
Conclusion: The addition of thickness to heat-cured acrylic resinplate affects on the transverse strength and tensile strength. The thickness of 2.5 mm has the greatest transverse strenghth. The thickness of 2 mm has the greatest tensile strength.
