PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN CDI, KOIL DAN BUSI RACING TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK PERCIKAN BUNGA API DAN KINERJA MOTOR 4 LANGKAH 150 CC BERBAHAN BAKAR PERTAMAX TURBO
Abstract
The development of technology in this globalization era is growing rapidly, one of the examples occurs in transportation field, particularly motorcycle. The need for motorcycle as the most used means of transportation and is often used as racing vehicle is influenced by several factors, such as; it has high power, it saves fuel and it only requires a short travel time. The innovation that is commonly developed in the automotive field is carried out by adding parts or change the original components in order to get the result that exceeds the factory standard. One of them is the ignition system, which is devided into Capasitor Discharge Ignition (CDI), ignition coil, and spark plug. This ignition system provides electric sparks in the plug to burn the mixture of air and fuel in the machine’s ignition chamber on the last compression stroke to get better power and torque.
This research was carried out using gasoline motorcycle 4 stroke 150cc. The spark was analyzed using spark research tool. The power and torque were performed using dynamometer testing and fuel consumption using road method. The test was done on 4000-12000 rpm for power and torque testing. While the fuel consumption test was carried out using pertamax turbo with 98 octane values on approximately 50 km/hour speed and 250 ml of fuel.
The research result shows that the best spark is produced through the variation of CDI BRT, standard coil and iridium plug because the produced spark is big and constant enough with the temperature of 8000-9000 K. The highest power is produced through the variation of CDI BRT, KTC coil and standard plug on 9305 rpm with 17 HP of power. The highest torque is 14,02 N.m on 7549 rpm through the variation of CDI BRT, KTC coil and standard plug. Meanwhile, the most economical use of fuel is on the variation of CDI BRT, standard coil and 36,64 km/liter of iridium plug.
