Fourty million people in the world require palliative care every year. This condition not only affects the patient, but also the family as caregiver for example, stress, fatigue, economic problems and others. This research was done to know the characteristic of stress on family caregiver with family member of life limiting illness in region of Puskesmas Gamping 1 Sleman Yogyakarta. This study used descriptive analytic method with cross sectional approach, 40 caregiver samples were determined by Quota sampling method. Stress on caregiver was measured using Caregiver Self Assessment Questionnaire and analyzed descriptively. The results showed there were 52.5% of caregivers feel burdened, 45% cried without control, 30% stress and 22.5% had poor health. Suggestions for Puskesmas Gamping I to initiate the self help group program in order to help overcome stress on caregiver.
