IDENTIFIKASI PENGGUNAAN OBAT OFF-LABEL INDIKASI PADA PASIEN PEDIATRI RAWAT INAP DI RUMAH SAKIT UMUM PUSAT DR. SARDJITO D.I. YOGYAKARTA PERIODE TAHUN 2016
Abstract
The human immune system at birth is immature so that pediatric is very susceptible to disease. Most drugs prescribed for pediatric have not been tested in pediatric, so pediatric patients often get off-label drug prescriptions. However the off-label term does not apply to improper, illegal, contraindicated, or investigative use. Off-label drug use is expected to provide benefits for patients who use them. The purpose of this study was to identify of off-label indication drug in pediatric patients at Dr. Sardjito General Hospital for the 2016 period.
This research is a descriptive study using a cross-sectional approach and data retrieval is conducted retrospectively based on patients disease index data and the payment bills used by pediatric patients at Dr. Sardjito Hospital for the period of 2016. Sampling was carried out by systematic random sampling. Data were collected from 348 patients who entered the inclusion criteria. In addition to off-label drug studies, drug grouping is also carried out based on the PIONAS (Pusat Informasi Obat Nasional) classification system. Data is analyzed based on the indication approved by PIONAS and supported by related journals.
Based on the results of research on pediatric patients hospitalization at Dr. Sardjito Hospital in 2016 there were 125 (35.92%) patients who received off-label indication drugs, and 144 (4,20%) prescribing off-label indication drugs of 3435 prescribing drugs. Off-label indication drugs were dexamethasone (0.06%), ondansetron (0.58%), domperidone (0.06%), amitriptyline (0.09%), phenobarbital (0.35%), valacyclovir (0 , 14%), mycophenolate mofetil (0.09%), folic acid (0.03%), salbutamol (1.31%), mesna (0.32%), and chloroquine (0.87%).
