ANALISIS PENGELOLAAN LINEN TERHADAP PENCEGAHAN DAN PENGENDALIAN INFEKSI DI RUMAH SAKIT PKU MUHAMMADIYAH GAMPING YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
Background: To improve public health, hospital has very vital role as
health facility. Many studies show undesirable incidences and complications
of Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) in the past decades. Based on the
2012 accreditation standard of Hospital Accreditation Committee (KARS),
PPI 7.1 standard is hospital reduces risk of infection by ensuring adequate
equipment cleaner and sterilization, as well as appropriate laundry and linen
management. The objective of this research is to analyze linen management
on the infection prevention and control of PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping
Hospital.
Subject and Method: This was a qualitative explorative study and the
research design was case study. The informants in this study was all
employees of the laundry or linen unit of PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital,
Gamping (11 people), and 3 members of the board of directors, i.e. linen
supervisor, infection and prevention control unit supervisor and household
manager. This research was conducted in July 2018 which is located in PKU
Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital. Data collection instrumen are
questionnaire, observation checklist, and interview.
Result: Linen staff has good perspective on linen laundry management,
as 6 participants (55%). In the stage of collecting linen and washing, 20%
staff didn’t comply with complete Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The
perspective of the management on linen laundry management was good. The
obstacles of the linen staffs in performing the standard operating procedure of
linen management of PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital, were using
clean and closed trolley facility and high workload.
Conclusion: The level of compliance of linen staffs on the standard
operating procedure of linen management wasn’t optimal. More staffs were
required to reduce the staffs workloads and the facilities should be improved.
