PENGARUH VARIASI TEKANAN GESEK TERHADAP STRUKTUR MIKRO, KEKERASAN DAN KEKUATAN TARIK SAMBUNGAN DISIMILLAR PIPA STAINLESS STEEL (BERPUTAR) - PIPA BAJA MENGGUNAKAN METODE CONTINOUS DRIVE FRICTION WELDING (CDFW)
Abstract
Generally, welding pipes still use them fusion welding method which requires longer welding time and high professional skill. This problem can be solved by using a friction welding method. This research purposed to know the effect of friction pressure variation microstructure, hardness, and tensile strength of stainless steel pipe - steel pipe dissimilar joint using continuous drive friction welding.
The material used in this research is stainless steel pipe ASTM A312 TP304 and steel pipe ASTM A53 Gr. A. The parameters used in this research is variations of friction pressure of 25, 30, and 34 MPa. The welding time is 1 second where the forging pressure is given for 5 seconds of 50 MPa. The selected speed is 1000 rpm. Then the results of friction welding are tested for microstructure, hardness, and tensile strength.
The results of the microstructure testing showed that in all variations the frictional pressure resulted in the Thermomechanically Affected Zone (TMAZ) area with a very fine grain shape. The high friction pressure makes the grain more smooth and the TMAZ area that is formed also becomes narrower. The increasing frictional pressure of the value of hardness in the TMAZ area is also increasing. Whereas in the tensile test lowest tensile strength at a friction pressure of 25 MPa is 296,70 MPa and the highest tensile strength is at 35 MPa friction pressure of 421,73 MPa. From the result of tensile testing, it can be concluded if the friction pressure increase then tensile strength is also higher. The recommended parameter for stainless steel pipe and steel pipe friction welding is 35 MPa.
