Abstract
Two-phase flow is a flow that consists of two different phases which flow at a place or in the pipeline. Application of two-phase flow frequently encountered in the industrialized world or everyday life namely boiler, condenser, evaporator and piping various networks. In the field of biomedicine two-phase flow is present on the cardiovascular system. The cardiovascular system including two-phase flow in a minichannel and microchannel because it involves two components namely oxygen and blood as well as blood vessels as its channels. Therefore the aim of the research is two-phase flow patterns of air-aquades and Glycerin (0-30%) in the capillary pipes with a slope 30° against the horizontal position is to study the flow pattern and get a map of the flow pattern of the two-phase flow.
In this study using a research method of visualization. Fluid type air-aquades mixed with Glycerin, with concentrations of a mixture of 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% who streamed toward the glass pipe diameter 1.6 mm and 40 mm long with a slope of 30 ° against the horizontal position. Fluid aquades and Glycerin mixture is fed into the press vessel pressed by air, fluids from vessel press mixed in the mixer with the air from the compressor. The test section is mounted on the camera to take video which is then processed using software MOV to AVI which further processed by VirtualDub to get pictures of the flow pattern.
The research results obtained are: there are five patterns are identified on the range of value of the JG = 0.025 m/s-66.3 m/s and the value of JL 0.033 m/s - 4.935 m/s : plug, bubbly, slug-annular, annular and churn. The influence of the giving of the slope against the test section size plug makes the more elongated compared to horizontal position size plug his short and the increased concentration of glycerine makes the size of the plug more and retracts. On bubbly flow patterns, the increased concentration of glycerine makes the bubble is getting smaller and attach each other on the same JL and JG. The influence of increasing concentrations of Glycerin to make the shift on the transition and the results of the comparison of the flow pattern map with earlier research showed good results
