PENGARUH PEMBERIAN EKSTRAK DAUN TEH HIJAU (Camellia Sinensis) TERHADAP KADAR SGOT DAN GAMBARAN HISTOPATOLOGI HEPAR TIKUS PUTIH (Rattus Novergicus) YANG DIINDUKSI KOLESTEROL
Abstract
Background: High cholesterol intake can cause adverse effects on organs. Liver
as a main role in fat metabolism can be damaged due to fatty liver and trigger an
increase in Serum Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase (SGOT) which are
commonly used to examine liver function. Modern medical research confirms that
green tea can protect liver from destructive substance on hepatocyte.
Methods: Purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving green tea
extract on SGOT levels and liver histopathology in cholesterol-induced white rats.
This study design is analytical experimental. Sampling method was using
purposive sampling and include 24 white rats that divided into four groups:
control without cholesterol group (K-), given green tea extract without cholesterol
group (P1), given green tea cholesterol-induced group (P2), cholesterol-induced
control group (K+). The data was analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis followed by
Mann-Whitney.
Result: Based on statistical analytic for SGOT levels there were significant
differences in the group: K- compared to P2, K- compared to K+, P1 compared to
P2, P1 compared to K+, and P2 compared to K+ with each p value=0,004. There
were no significant difference in group K- compared to P1 with p value=0,2.
Histopathology result showed significant differences in the group: K- compared to
P2, K- compared to K+, P1 compared to P2, P1 compared to K+, and P2
compared to K+ with each p value=0,00. There were no significant difference in
group K- compared to P1 with p value=1,0.
Conclusion: From the study it can be concluded that green tea extract has effect
on decreasing levels of SGOT and reduced damage level of liver that included
macrovesicular steatosis and necreoinflamatory activity
