EFEKTIVITAS ANALGETIK EKSTRAK ETANOL BATANG SERAI (Cymbopogon citratus) PADA TIKUS WISTAR JANTAN
Abstract
Background: Pain is one of the symptoms of inflammation. The drug for pain
has side effect of gastrointestinal irritation. Therefore, the development of the
drug for pain is needed. The ethanol extract of lemongrass is potential as antipain.
Method: Quasi experimental with linear pattern of complete random design was
given to 25 male wistar rats. They were given the ethanol extract of lemongrass
with 3-dosage variations (5%, 10%, 20%). The analgesic test was assessed using
the score onset on rats put on a Hot Plate. The data analysis used was one way
ANOVA.
Results: The result of analgesic test shows that there is no analgesic effect in
decreasing the onset of pain on rats after being given the ethanol extract of
lemongrass since the ethanol extract of lemongrass does not hamper the
nociceptive pain.
Conclusion: The ethanol extract of lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) in all
dosages does not have any effects as analgetics on male wistar rats (Rattus
norvegicus).
