PENGARUH PEMBERIAN STRETCHING ABDOMEN TERHADAP TINGKAT NYERI DISMENORE PADA SANTRIWATI DI PONDOK PESANTREN AL MUNAWWIR
Abstract
Backgrund :Women with experiencing dysmenorrhea during menstruation usually have higher level of prostaglandin compared to women without experiencing dysmenorrhea. It will cause a harmful effect on health if it is not treated immediately. Therapy that can be used to treat dysmenorrhea is non-pharmalogical therapy. Non-pharmalogical therapy that is effective in reducing pain of dysmenorrhea without causing side effect is abdominal stretching. Abdominal stretching is one of non-pharmalogical therapy which is effective in reducing the pain of dysmenorrhea without causing side effects. Abdominal stretching can stimulate the body to produce endorphin hormone as a natural sedative which cause a sense of comfort and the level of pain in dysmenorrhea will gradually decrease.
Aims :The aims of this research is to determine the effect of abdominal stretching on the level of dysmenorrhea pain.
Research Method :This research used a type of quasy experiment pre-test and post-test with control group design. 27 respondents of female students were used as the sample of the research in the intervention group and 27 other different respondents of female students in control group. This research used purposive sampling as a sampling technique. Also this research used Independent Sample T-Test and Paired Sample T-Test for data analysis.
Results: The results of this research show that abdominal stretching has an effect on decreasing the level of dysmenorrhea pain with p value = 0,001 < α (0,005). The average value before applied the abdominal stretching is 5.42 and the average after applied the abdominal stretching decrease to 2.83. This result shows that there is a significant different level of dysmenorrhea pain before and after applied abdominal stretching.
Conclusion: It is proven that abdominal stretching can decrease the level pain of dysmenorrhea.
