KORELASI KADAR HbA1c DENGAN NILAI NLR PADA PENDERITA DIABETES MELITUS TIPE 2
Abstract
Background : The increase in blood glucose that occurs in patients with diabetes
mellitus can lead to complications. As a control to determine the risk prevention
of complications, one of which is examination of hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c).
Leukocytosis is thought to be directly associated with the pathogenesis of
atherosclerosis and metabolic syndrome. Increased Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte
ratio (NLR) has proven its prognostic value in cardiovascular disease, infections,
inflammatory diseases and in several types of cancers in type-2 diabetes mellitus
(T2DM).
Research Objectives : Determine the correlation between blood glucose
regulation(HbA1c) level and NLR values in type 2 diabetes mellitus patient.
Research Methods : This research used quantitative data, with observational
analytical method through a cross sectional approach. Number of samples in this
research were 48 patient medical records. The independent variable was HbA1c
level and the dependent variable was NLR values. After the data is obtained from
each variable, then it is analyzed by using Spearman correlation test.
Research Result : The results of the study with medical record samples of patients
with type 2 diabetes mellitus with HbA1c levels >7 above normal. Furthermore,
the data obtained from the results of the normal NLR value were 72,91% and
27,09% increased. The results of the analysis with the Spearman test obtained a
significance number of p = 0.031 (significant) with correlation coefficient r =
0.312 (moderate correlation) for the correlation of HbA1c levels with NLR values.
Conclusion : Based on these results it can be concluded that there is significant
correlation between HbA1c levels and NLR values in patients with type 2 diabetes
mellitus.
