Abstract
Background: A febrile seizure is a neurologic disorder that most often encountered children
and affects about 4% of children. Boys more often suffer from febrile seizures to the incident
than girls. Approximately 30% to 40% of children experienced one relapse. Febrile seizures
occur 10% of children between the ages of 9 months - 5 years with an average onset of 14-18
months, with the incidence rate of about 3-4%. Febrile seizures can have serious
consequences such as neurological deficit, epilepsy, mental retardation, or a change
perilaku.
Objective : this study is to describe the leveL knowledge pediaric nurse of febrile seizures.
Methods: This study used a descriptive quantitative non-experimental. The sampling
technique using total sampling. This research was conducted in July-August with respondents
38 pediatric nurses.
Results: The results showed that the majority of respondents aged 31-40 years with 17
respondents (44.7%), female gender as much as 38 respondents (100%), duration of action of
5-10 years as many as 15 respondents (28.9 %) and the majority responden education level is
D3 as many as 31 respondents (81.6%).
Conclusion: The level knowledge pediatricnurse of febrile seizures in RS PKU
Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping and RS PKU Muhammadiyah
Bantul majority in both categories.
