HUBUNGAN PERILAKU MEROKOK TERHADAP KUALITAS TEKANAN DARAH PADA LAKI-LAKI
Abstract
Background: Smoking behavior is a behavior that burns one of the intended
tobacco products to be burned, smoked and/or inhaled (Ministry of Health, 2013).
Smoking behavior in teenagers increases according to the stage of development.
The proportion of ages starting smoking in teenagers tends to increase in
Riskesdas (Basic Health Research) 2010 and 2013. The highest proportion was in
the age group of 15-19 years in Riskesdas 2010 (43.3%) and Riskesdas 2013
(55.4%). Smoking is a risk factor for some diseases. Smoking a cigarette will have
a major influence on increasing blood pressure or hypertension.
Objective: This study aims to determine the correlation of smoking behavior to the
quality of blood pressure in men.
Research method: The method used in this study was observational analytic with
a cross sectional design. The population is 109 students. The sample is 54
respondents, which are male smokers from Faculty of Engineering, Department of
Electrical Engineering, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Respondents
were given an explanation about the study, then filled out questionnaires and their
blood pressure were measured. Blood pressure results and measurements were
tested statistically using the Kendall Tau correlation.
Research Result: The results of this study indicate that based on the correlation
of the number of cigarettes smoked per day with blood pressure of male students
in the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering showed a p
value of 0.001 (sig>0.05) . The association of smoking duration with blood
pressure of male students in the Faculty of Engineering showed p value 0.022
(sig>0.05).
Conclusion: This study can be concluded that there is a correlation between
smoking behavior to the quality of blood pressure in men.
