      Abstract
      Background : the prevalence of life limiting illness (LLI) is increasing in number both in the world and in Indonesia, most of which are treated at home. The family has an important role in caring for, so readiness is needed because it will affect the quality of life of both the caring families and patients. Objective : to know the level of family readiness with the quality of life of families who care for life limiting illness (LLI) patients in region of Puskesmas Gamping 1 Sleman Yogyakarta. Research Method : The design of this study was a descriptive exploratory method with a cross sectional approach. The sample in this research was 40 families who treated patients with life limiting illness (LLI) which were determined by the Quota sampling method. The level of family readiness was measured using a Caregiving Inventory (CGI) and family quality of life measured by WHOQOL-BREF and analyzed by univariate and bivariate. Results : The results showed an average family readiness level of 27.92 with a family quality of life averaging 45.68, and there was a significant correlation between the level of family readiness and family quality of life having a value of r = 0.578 which meant the strength of correlation was positive direction. Conclusions : the level of family readiness in caring for patients with life limiting illness greatly affects the quality of family life. Suggestions for health services, the results of this study indicate that the importance of family preparedness in caring, because it will affect the quality of life of families and patients.
