Abstract
Pulp capping material is one of the factors to determine the success of pulp capping treatment. Good material one of which must have good mechanical strength. The compressive strength test is a test to determine the mechanical strength and stability of the material. The purpose of this study was to compare the compressive strength between Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement and Mineral Trioxide Aggregate as a pulp capping material
The method of research was experimental laboratory with 12 samples, the samples divided into 2 groups in mold with a diameter 3mm and height 6mm. The first group was Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement(Fuji II LC, GC Japan) and the second group was Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (Rootdent®,Technodent Rusia) restored by Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement. The compressive strength measurements are using Universal Testing Machine(MPa).
The results showed the average compressive strength of Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Resin Cement was 1313.987 MPa and Mineral Trioxide Aggregate was 392.372 MPa. The compressive strength results were analyzed using Mann-Whitney U test with the test results p = 0.004 which showed a significant effect (p <0.05). The conclusion of this study there is a difference in the compressive strength between Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement and Mineral Trioxide Aggregate with the highest compressive strength is Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement as a pulp capping material.
