      Abstract
Background: Indonesia will enter era of aging population, because of the population those aged ≥60 years exceeds 7%. As the elderly population increases, it will be accompanied by an increase in the prevalence of dementia sufferers in Indonesia, which will increase greatly. Elderly people who engage in physical activity can significantly reduce their risk of dementia. Some types of physical activity include endurance and walking exercises, can improve cognitive function in the elderly, including those who have been diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment. Some studies suggest elderly people to adopt physical activity and exercise as their lifestyle to reduce negative effects on the body and mind. Objective: The objective of the research is to know the correlation of the physical activity toward the dementia level in the elderly Reseacrh Method: This study was an observational study with a cross section design. The population in this research were 53 samples. The sample is elderly aged ≥60 years in the elderly guidance center Bojonggedang Village, Rancah District, Ciamis Regency. This research instrument used GPPAQ (General Practice Physical Activity Questionnaire) and MMSE (Mini Mental State Examination). The collected data will be analyzed statistically using the Chi Square test. Result: The result in this research was there was had correlation of the physical activity toward the dementia level in the elderly with p value is 0,003. The p value is significant because it is smaller than the significant limit 0.05, so the H1 hypothesis is accepted or in other words there is a meaningful relationship between the two variables tested. Conclusion: The conclusion in this research was the more active someone in doing physical activity, the risk for dementia will be lower, and otherwise the less active someone in soing physical activity, the risk for dementia will be higher.
