PENGARUH KUAT ARUS TERHADAP STRUKTUR MIKRO, KEKERASAN DAN KAPASITAS BEBAN TARIK SAMBUNGAN SPOT TIG WELDING DISSIMILAR METAL ANTARA STAINLESS STEEL 430 DAN BAJA KARBON RENDAH
Abstract
Spot welding is a process to connecting, that is widely used in various industries, Spot TIG is a spot welding that starts to glance and has potential in its use such as resistance point welding. This lack of research related to welding makes the type method questionable in terms of its compatibility capabilities. This study aims to find out the ability to connect welds using dissimilar metal on spot TIG welding by varying welding currents.
In this study, welding was done varying current between 70 A, 80 A, 90 A, and 100 A, the holding time constant 4 second. The material uses stainless steel 430 and low carbon steel following the AWS D8.9-97. The weld joint uses a type lap joint with carbon steel on the upper side. This reserch uses microstructure, hardness and tensile tests to see result welded on mechanical and physical.
Based on the research that has been done, the effect of increasing welding current on the weldmetal region resulted in increasing ferrite and martensite. The hardness test in the weldmetal area has a very high value where the value of hardness in variation is 70 A; 80 A; 90 A; 100 A which is equal to 324 HV; 370 HV; 336 HV; 318 HV on the sides SS430 and 325 HV; 329 HV; 300 HV; 339 HV on the side of low carbon steel, while the results of the tensile test indicate that the increase in welding current makes to increase tensile load bearing capacity where the best result is in the variation of 100 A with the maximum value of the load is 4317.44 N.
