dc.descriptionThe problem discussed in the research is the strategies of guidance and counseling teachers in developing discipline character on students of MAN 2 Bantul. Discipline is necessary in an educational institution since discipline can develop a better character. Education is not only conducted in classrooms or through transfer of knowledge. However, education is also expected to change and develop people’s character to be better and to be skilful. The research aimed at: (1) Learning the types of Guidance and Counseling conducted to develop discipline character on students of MAN 2 Bantul; (2) Learning the strategies conducted by Guidance and Counselling teachers to develop discipline character of students of MAN 2 Bantul; (3) Learning the collaboration conducted by Guidance and Counselling teachers and other teachers to develop discipline character of students of MAN 2 Bantul. The method used in the research was qualitative approach and the type of the research was descriptive qualitative. The data were analysed through three steps namely data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The research result indicates that the types of Guidance and Counselling services in MAN 2 Bantul are individual and group Guidance and Counselling. The strategy made by Guidance and Counselling teachers is by giving individual counselling. The existence of Discipline Team develops collaboration between The Principal, Guidance and Counselling teachers, and other teachers in the team.en_US
