PENGEMBANGAN INTERGRATED FARMING SYSTEM UNTUK PENGENDALIAN ALIH FUNGSI LAHAN PERTANIAN

There is a big problem in Indonesia is the conversion (land use) of agricultrual land into non agriculhue is increasing from year to year. This problem can threaten the sustai.nability of agriculhual devolopmeut in the futue, especially in the provisioa of food, labor, which ultimately will impact on the declining contribution of agricultue to tle formation of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Integated farming system (IFS) has the advantage ofboth ecological and economic aspects. The advartage is more adaptive to change, environmentally friendly, energy saving, high biodiversity, more resistaDt, more business diversification or relatively low risk of failure, higher product diversification and more healthy, higher sustainable famrhg, higher labor absorption and sustainable. Maximurn utilization of firnctional diversity can result in complex farming systems and integrated by utilizing existing resources and inputs optimally. The challenge is to fiad a combination of plants, animals and the inputs that lead to higb productivity, safety production and resource conservation in accorda:rce with a relatively limited land, labor and capital. Development of Integrated Farming System (IFS), which is directed at rural and sub-urban areas, is expected to buitd a sustainable self-reliaacs of farmers with increased economic and social development and sustainable environment. Successfirl development ofIFS can play a role in controlling land use conversion. We suggest that in implementing the IFS model must be adapted to local resources to produce eff€ctive and efficieEt fanning.
