HEGEMONI NEGARA, KORPORASI, DAN REJIM EKONOMI GLOBAL DALAM PEMBANGUNAN PROYEK DAKOTA ACCESS PIPELINE (DAPL) DI AMERIKA SERIKAT 2014-2018
Abstract
Marginalization over Standing Rock nation in the construction
of Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) in the United States shows
that country‟s interest in profit is over its native people. This
paper aims to prove the existence of hegemony of the United
States, corporations, and global economic regime as the key
actors, in succeeding the construction of controversial oil
pipeline DAPL. Using Antonio Gramsci‟s hegemony as a
conceptual framework, this research finds structured works of
each actor through the creation of identity, culture, value, and
consumption mode resulting a common worldview between
United States‟ society and the actors of the pipeline. The
common worldview later leads to acceptance of the pipeline
construction which set indigenous people‟s right of Free,
Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) aside and put Standing
Rock nation at risk of water contamination of oil.
