PENGARUH TEKANAN UDARA PADA SANDBLASTING TERHADAP KEKASARAN PERMUKAAN MATERIAL
Abstract
Painting process is needed in industry especially automotive industry. Before the painting process is done, a surface that is clean of any remaining paint is required. Sandblasting simplifies the process of paint removal quickly and efficiently. Sandblasting is a surface cleaning process by firing sand onto the object surface resulting in a surface roughness profile and removing rust, dirt, oil and lubricant. This research is aimed to find out the result of sandblasting on surface using visual observation and flatness of the test specimen on several variations of air pressure on sandblasting. The roughness test was done using Surface Roughness Tester Mitutoyo S1-210. The findings of the research show that unfavorable surface with variation of 4 Bar air pressure results in roughness value of 11.51μm, while 6 Bar air pressure variation results in the best surface with roughness value of 7.57 μm seen from visual observation of 6 Bar air pressure which produces the best surface from its level of cleanness and texture.
