KERJA SAMA PEMERINTAH KOTA JAMBI DENGAN UNITED NATIONS ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COMMISION FOR ASIA AND THE PACIFIC (UNESCAP) DALAM PENGELOLAAN SAMPAH (2014-2018)
Abstract
Waste is a problem that needs serious attention for all levels of society. If waste problem is managed properly it will provide many benefits, besides creating a clean environment. Through this research, it will be further examined the effect of the Pro-Poor and Sustainable Solid Waste Management Pilot Project program by Jambi city government, in cooperation with one of the UN committees named United Nations Environment and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). The project assists local governments in establishing Integrated Resource Recovery Centres (IRRCs) and developing and implementing citywide solid waste management strategies that are decentralized, pro-poor, low-carbon and financially viable.
This research uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques in the form of literature reviews and interviewing relevant sources to obtain sources that support this research. The result is the collaboration carried out has a positive impact on improving people's living standards, such as the fulfillment of subsidized electricity and free gas need, as results from the Pro-Poor and Sustainable Solid Waste Management Pilot Project. In addition, this program also helps in community empowerment because it does not only involve the surrounding community, but they also get wages from participating in this project.
