This research aimed at (1) analyzing the use of students’ social media at SMA Muhammadiyah Kasihan. (2) analyzing the implication of social media on students’ social interaction at SMA Muhammadiyah Kasihan. The research used descriptive qualitative research method. Based on the type, this reseach is a field research that focuses on the occurrence. The research subjects were 15 students which consisted of 5 student from Grade X, 5 students from Grade XI, and 5 students from Grade XII. The data techniques were observation, interview and documentation. The results of this research illustrate that (1) students at SMA Muhammadiyah Kasihan use different social media such as Facebok, Instagram, and WhatsApp. (2) there are positive and negative implications of social media use on students social interaction of at SMA Muhammadiyah Kasihan. The Negative implication is that students become indifferent to the surroundings. The positive implication is that students can have indirect interaction with teachers and friends, and share information about school assignment easily. The conclusion of this research is the implication of social media on social interaction is mostly negative.
