Abstract
Background : One of the high mortality rates is related to the quality of IGD physician services, especially in the handling of life saving measures. The purpose of the study is to find a picture of the quality of physician services in handling life saving measures based on death audits in the IGD Hospital 'X'. Methods : The research method is qualitative research with descriptive analytic method using a retrospective study. The study was conducted at the IGD Hospital „X‟ from January to March 2019. Respondents were specialist doctors as DPJP, head of the emergency department, medical coordinator. The instruments used were in-depth interviews and medical record documents. The results of the study through the death audit obtained data on the number of deaths and causes of patients who died <24 hours in the ED during January to March 2019. Obtained a percentage of mortality of 14.79 permill, this figure is above the figures set in the Minimum Service Standards of the Ministry of Health which is 2 permill. Deaths in the emergency room most often occur in cases with the expertise of neurology specialists, which is 29%, while the cause of death based on audit deaths is mostly caused by failures in life saving measures, which is 38% more specifically in the case of failure of airway measures, amounting to 47.5%. Conclusion : The conclusion of this study from the results of the death audit in the ER found failure in handling life saving measures to be the most dominant cause of death <24 hours in the emergency room so it is recommended that all attending physicians attend emergency training periodically so that patients with emergency conditions receive life measures better saving and
