PENERIMAAN PENONTON TERHADAP POLIGAMI DALAM FILM ‘ATHIRAH’
Abstract
This study aims to determine how the reception, interpretation, and meaning of the audience or the audience of the actions of polygamy that is displayed in the film Athirah. This research uses Stuart Hall's encoding-decoding theory with Focus Group Discussion (FGD) data collection techniques for members of the YukNgaji and JOSS regional communities in Jogjakarta. Athirah film is a film directed by Riri Riza which was first released on 29 September 2016. The film is about the story of polygamy experienced by Athirah Kalla, mother of Yusuf Kalla. The film is adapted from a semi-biographical novel by Alberthei Endah. The results of this study indicate that three out of six informants occupy the Negotiating position. Even so some other informants occupy the position of Hegemony-Dominant, as well as the Opposition.
