PENGARUH MOISTURE CONTENT TERHADAP SIFAT BENDING DAN KEKERASAN PADA POLYAMIDE 6
Abstract
Moisture content is the water content contained in an ingredient, in general people mention the water content as the water content in a material and is usually expressed in units of percent (%). One material that can be used for the water content process is polyamide 6. polyamide 6 is used because it has hygroscopic properties or is sensitive to moisture, a strong material, and abrasion resistant. This research was conducted to determine the effect of water content on the flexural properties and resistance of polyamide 6 flexural material.
This research was conducted by making multipurpose specimens according to ISO 294-1 standard from pure polyamide 6 resin material made using an injection molding machine. The process of water content is carried out using a dry variation of 0.2%, open air 0.98%, steam 4.4%, and boiled 4.8%. Specimen testing is performed using a shore D test and bending test (ISO 178).
The results of this study obtained a trial value on polyamide 6 with a dry treatment variation of 0.2% at 76.67 Shore D, open air treatment at 70.17 Shore D, steam treatment at 66.33 Shore D, and boiled treatment at 66.83 Shore D. The value of the flexural stress variation of dry treatment is 90.52 MPa, open air treatment is 66.1 MPa, steam treatment is 26.025 MPa, boiling treatment is 25.7 MPa. Based on the results obtained are higher than the water content of polyamide 6, the lower the strength, the more resilient (not easily broken).
