GAMBARAN KEJADIAN DISLOKASI TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT PADA TINDAKAN PENCABUTAN GIGI DI RSGM UMY PADA TAHUN 2018
Abstract
Background: Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are a group of functional disorders of the temporomandibular (TMJ) masticatory and joint muscles that are often found in dentistry. One of them is included in the group of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, namely dislocation. Dislocation is a condition where the condyle position moves far forward so that it slips out of the mandibular fossa and moves surpassed the articular eminence. Dislocation can occur due to the presence of traumatic and non-traumatic mechanisms. The mechanism of temporomandibular joint dislocation varies depending on the type of dislocation such as acute, chronic, and recurrent dislocations. The type of dislocation can be distinguished based on the location of the condyle to the temporal articular fossa. There are 4 types of dislocations, namely anterior dislocation, posterior dislocation, superior dislocation, and lateral dislocation. Tooth extraction is an action that is included in minor dental surgery and allows complications such as temporomandibular joint dislocation. Objective: The purpose of this study was to describe the occurrence of temporomandibular joint dislocation especially during tooth extraction at Dental and Oral Hospital of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta University in 2018. Method: This study used a descriptive research design. Data retrieval is done by retrospective study. The population in this study is the medical record of dental extraction treatment at RSGM UMY in 2018. The sampling technique in this study is the total sampling method. Result: The results of the study were not found the occurrence of temporomandibular joint dislocation during tooth extraction treatment at RSGM UMY in 2018. Conclusion: The occurrence of temporomandibular joint dislocation during tooth extraction treatment at RSGM UMY in 2018 is (0%) or not found.
