EFEKTIFITAS PENDIDIKAN KESEHATAN DENGAN MODUL TERHADAP KESIAPAN DAN BEBAN KELUARGA YANG MERAWAT PASIEN DENGAN LIFE LIMITING ILLNESS
Abstract
Background: Life limiting illness is a life-limiting disease and is described as a disease that has death consequences such as cancer, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, dementia, heart failure, neurodegenerative disease, chronic liver disease, kidney failure and elderly people who have weak state. The family has a very important role for sick family members. Family readiness in treating patients at home is an important thing to note. Families who care for patients at home often have a high care load. They tend to experience a decrease in psychological well-being and have a low quality of life. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of providing educational modules on family readiness and independence in treating patients at home. Method: This study used a quantitative quasy-experimental method pre-post with control group. Respondents in this study were 50 family members divided into 25 people in the intervention group and 25 people in the control group who are families who care for patients with life limiting illness at home. Readiness and expense are measured using Caregiving Inventory (CGI) and Caregiving Burden Scale questionnaires. Results: In the intervention group readiness variable with a value of 0.00 (<0.05) and in the control group 0.042 (<0.05) which means there are significant differences in the intervention and control group on readiness. In the load variable the statistical results show a significance value in the burden intervention group with a value of 0.00 (<0.05) and in the control group 0.345 (> 0.05) which means there is a significant difference in the intervention group in the load whereas in the control group it is not there are significant differences in the load before and after the test. Conclusion: There is an effect of giving the symptom treatment module in "My Semah" home to the family's readiness and burden in caring for patient with life limiting illness in the work area of Puskesmas Gamping 1 Sleman.
