      Abstract
Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) is one of the best university in Indonesia and has more than 10.000 registered students. With so many students registered, UMY should support from its operational staff so it can fulfill what the need of students during daily operation. IT services also provided to support daily operational such as access to internet or intranet via wireless, online staff website, KRS online, e-learning etc. With traditional wireless design, Information System Bureau (BSI) feel less efficient and hard to control the wireless network. So new wireless design that capable to provide ease of BSI Staff in controlling their wireless network, provide high scalable network in accordance to the need of UMY in the future and capable to integrate as unified system. This new design called Unified Wireless Network (UWN). The system is deployed using PPDIOO (Prepare, Plan, Design, Implement, Operate, Optimize) Life Cycle. Using this method, every action taken is mapped into every cycle, so if there is something wrong it can be mitigated quickly. New wireless design use Virtual Wireless LAN Controller (vWLC) as centralized control and segemented Virtual LAN (VLAN) on each Service Set Identifier (SSID) per zones. Multiple captive portal is used to attract the user and increase of user awareness. UWN is proven provide wireless access for staff, students and guest in UMY. In conclusion, BSI Staff with the help of UWN become more efficient and effective because UWN provide overview of the deployed wireless network, moreover UWN provide high scalability in accordance to the need of UMY in the future
