Abstract
Veneer is a layer of tooth-colored materials to repair local or general damage that associated with intrinsic discoloration of teeth, based on manufacturing technique veneer are divided into two: direct and indirect. Microhybrid composite is one of materials choice that can use to make direct and indirect veneer. Actually, insertion of indirect veneer need luting materials to get adhesion between teeth and veneer. Luting material that’s commonly used in dentistry are cement resin and glass ionomer cement type 1.
Aim : to know the differences of tensile strength between cement resin and glass ionomer cement type 1 to microhybrid composite resin indirect veneer restoration.
Research Design: This study is purely experimental laboratory reserach. This study used 12 samples of maxillary and mandibulary premolar teeth post-extraction. The research samples were given 2 different treatment, the first treatment is use cement resin as luting material and the second treatment is use glass ionomer cement type 1 as luting material. The data is analyze with independent samples T-test with 95% significance level (P <0.05).
Result: there are any differences of tensile strength between cement resin and glass ionomer cement type 1 to microhybrid composite resin indirect veneer restoration. Analysis of independent T-test result that there is a significant differences of tensile strength of the adhesion of the veneer indirect microhybrid composite between using cement resin and glass ionomer cement type 1 as a luting material with significance level = 0.000 (p <0.05).
Conclusion: there are any significant differences of tensile strength between cement resin and glass ionomer cement type 1 to microhybrid composite resin indirect veneer restoration
