HUBUNGAN KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL DENGAN MEKANISME KOPING PADA MAHASISWA TAHUN PERTAMA PROGRAM STUDI ILMU KEPERAWATAN UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
First grade students of university have to feel various stresses such as physical, biological or psychological stress. Having high stress moment could harm students' academic achievements, competency, professionality, health and influence the growth of indication towards diseases and health for these reasons a koping meccanism or an individual effort to overcome stress is needed. The level of students' emotional brightness highly influences a good koping meccanism. If students have high emotional brightness they would be able to control themselves when facing any problems. A research is needed to find a relation between emotional brightness with koping meccanism towards the first grade students of university.
This research uses a correlative descriptive design along with the use of cross sectional and contingency coefficient analysing data method. The sample of this research will include around 99 students who is picked by simole random sampling technique. This research is conducted towards students PSIK UMY on May 2016.
The emotional brightness of PSIK UMY first grade students is dominated by middle category as big as 74 students (74,7%), while koping meccanism of PSIK UMY first grade students is dominated by adaptive category is as high as 50 students (52,5%). This research shows value of significance (p-Value) as big as 0,000 < 0,05 so Ha is accepted, it means that it has positive relation between emotional brightness with koping meccanism. It means that the more high students' emotional brightness the more adaptive their koping meccanism. By the value r = 0,452 which means the middle range of close relationship.
