PENGARUH PEMBERIAN AROMATERAPI LAVENDER DAN TEKNIK RELAKSASI NAFAS DALAM TERHADAP SKALA NYERI PADA PASIEN POST OPERASI FRAKTUR EKSTREMITAS DI RS PKU MUHAMMADIYAH GAMPING
Abstract
Pain is the most common symptom in postoperative patients with fracture extremity. Pharmacology and non-pharmacology are interventions that can used by nurses to reduce the pain in patients. One form of non-pharmacology intervention that can be given is lavender aromatherapy and deep breathing relaxation technique. The purpose of this study was to know the effect of giving lavender aromatherapy and deep breathing relaxation technique toward pain scale in postoperative patients with fracture extremity at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital.
Methods: This research was a quantitative with Quasi-Experimental pre-test and post-test control group design which was conducted from June-July 2016. Respondents were selected by accidental sampling and purposive sampling into small groups of 15 people in intervention group which received lavender aromatherapy and deep breathing relaxation technique for 15 minutes and 15 people in the control group. Data had been analyzed using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney U test.
Results: The result of this research indicated that there was an effect on reducing pain significantly by giving lavender aromatherpy and deep breathing relaxation technique toward pain scale in postoperative patient with fracture extremity with the value of p=0,000.
Conclusion and Recommedation: Giving lavender aromatherapy and deep breathing relaxation technique has effect to reduce pain in postoperative patient with fracture extremity. Nurses are expected to use interventions in this study into one of intervention in the hospital. For the next researcher in order to control the intervention’s time and confounding factors.
