There are many Middle Eastern themed movies which have coloured the European and Hollywood film industry today. One of them is The Physician movie that brings a theme about historical story. The Physician told about an Englishman experience in the 11th century in discovering medical science to the Moslem civilization area in Middle East which was hugely sophisticated in that period. Nonetheless, this film inflicts controversy related to the description of Islam and the history of Ibn Sina (Avicenna). Hence, this film is inseparable from the concept of orientalism. A practice about Eastern people’s representation from the perception of Western people. This research used narrative analysis actancial model of Algirdas Greimas in analysing the civilization of Middle East. This analysis is used to explain the character position and to perceive the relation of each character in forming an occurence and plot of story. There are three categories of orientalism that become the discoverings of the researcher, that are illustration of Middle East situation, character of Islam people, and Western superiority. This research shows that The Physician movie performs the Middle East as hazardous area which is overcontrolled by Islam peoples who are racist, intolerant to the Christians and Jews, and frequently do the terrorism. While the Western people is shown as a nation that is innovative, intelligent, and heroic. The negative stigma to Arab and Islam in western films has become a tradition. This is because as long as they attempt to underestimate the image of the Easterns, they keep trying to increase the image of the Westerns and every text can not be separated from the objective of creator’s ideology.
