      Abstract
      This research aims to identify the students’ preference in choosing the economics department at private university in Yogyakarta Special Region (Case study at Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Universitas Islam Indonesia and Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta). The subject of this research were those of fresh students batch 2016 of Economics Department of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Universitas Islam Indonesia and Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. The sample in this research consist of 220 respondents chosen randomly using purposive sampling. The method used was multiple linear regression. This research conducts using variables: teaching quality and supporting staff; facilities; perception of graduates’ quality; education fee and living cost and location of University. Partial test proven that the first three variables mention earlier shows positive influence towards students’ preference in choosing economics department, meanwhile the last two variables shows the opposite. Yet, simultaneous test proven that all variables are positive relationship to the dependent variables.
