      Abstract
      Diabetes mellitus is a state of chronic hyperglycemia accompanied by metabolic disorders due to hormonal disturbances that cause a variety of chronic complication. Diabetic neuropathy is one of the most common chronic complication that occurs in patients with diabetes melitus.Diabetic neuropathy has been proven to cause a significant effect to humanity and economic aspect. Patients experiencing limitations in performing the function of life, experiencing trouble sleeping and often become anxious and depressed. Therefore, diabetic neuropathy almost always associated with health-related quality of life Methods: This research is a quantitative research with observational analitic and cross sectional approach. The samples are 64 patients with DM type 2 in RSUD Kota Yogyakarta which were taken randomly. Independent Sample-T test is used to compare the means of the quality of life score. It is used to find any difference between the group of diabetic neuropathy and the group without diabetic neuropathy. The research instruments are patients’ medical record, Diabetic Neuropathy Symptoms (DNS) score and quality of life questionnaire WHOQOL-BREF. Result: The results of Independent Sample-T test shows the significant difference between the group of diabetic neuropathy and the group without diabetic neuropathy (Sig. 2-tailed <0.05) in domain I (Physical Health), II (Psychological Health) and IV (Environment) but shows no significant difference in domeain III (Social) (Sig. 2-tailed > 0.05). Conclusion: The quality of life of patients with diabetic neuropathy is worse than the patients without diabetic neuropathy.
