      Abstract
      Middle East is a region in which their countries are still running into the ongoing conflict, one of them is the Syrian state. The ongoing conflict in the Middle East makes one opportunity for super power countries, like The United States or Russia to prove their strength. No wonder, if the internal conflicts that occur such as in Syria there is still interference of super power countries. In another side, the internal conflict in Syria also provides an opportunity for the rebels or the separatism movement to looking for public sympathy or to provoke people to overthrow the Syrian regime. The success of rebels get in the internal conflict in Syria caused appearance of ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) groups in the midst of the conflict. Besides of wanting to overthrow the Syrian regime, ISIS also takes control over several cities in Syria. One of the city which is controlled by ISIS is Palmyra. The city itself is an ancient city located in the province of Homs, Syria which is became the center of ancient civilization heritage in the Middle East region. Since 1980, Palmyra is one of the world heritage recognized by UNESCO. Within a year, the city has been taken back by Syrian government from ISIS. It proves that even they priority not a country with a large area, but that city has strategic values in terms of economy and culture.
