      Abstract
Indonesia has many plants that can provide benefits, such as gods crown fruit (Phaleria macrocarpa). Gods crown extract contains active ingredients such as alkaloid, saponin, flavonoid and tanin. Such compounds can inhibit and kill bacteria, including bacteria Enterococcus faecalis. Enterococcus faecalis bacteria proven can survive in root canals as a single organism and are resistant to antimicrobial agents used in root canal treatment. The inhibitory mechanism of compounds found in mahkota dewa fruit is by reacting with cell membranes, inactivation of essential enzymes and destruction of genetic material. Objective: The purpose of this in vitro study was to determine the effectiveness of antibacterial activity of various concentrations of gods crown fruit extract (Phaleria marcopara) against the bacteria Enterococcus faecalis as a root canal medicaments. The design of this study was pure laboratory experimental use bacteria Entrococcus faecalis. The concentration used for gods crown fruit extract was 25%, 50%, and 75% and aquades (negative control) and calcium Hydroxside (positive control). Antibacterial test using diffusion method on the disc for 24-48 hours at 37 °C. Data analysis using Kruskal Wallis and Mann-Whithney test to determine examine the effectiveness of antibacterial activity of extracts of the gods crown (Phaleria macrocarpa). Radical Zone gods crown fruit extract (Phaleria macrocarpa) that formed in various concentrations are at a concentration of 25% amounting to 3,233 mm, concentration of 50% amounting to 4,076 mm and at a concentration of 75% of 4.8 mm. The average zone of radicals formed in the positive control of 3.575 mm. Conclusion: The higher concentration of the extracts from the fruit of the gods crown (Phaleria macrocarpa) the greater inhibitory effect on the growth of bacteria Enterococcus faecalis.
