KORELASI ANTARA BODY COMPOSITION DENGAN HEART RATE RECOVERY PADA MAHASISWA LAKI-LAKI PENDIDIKAN DOKTER UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
Backgroud: The Prevalence of cardiovascular and obesity disease is quite high in Indonesia. Medical student are required to always be healthy in carrying out the doctor’s profession later. Body composition measurement can be used as parameters for early detection of cardiovascular disease risk. HRR is one of the predictors of mortality associated with cardiovascular disease risk.
Aim: Examine the correlation between body composition and HRR towards medical students.
Methods: This study is an analytic correlation study. Subjects were 83 subjects. Parameters measured in body composition are body mass index, waist circumference, body fat percentage, and waist to height ratio. The HRR data was measured after a Kasch Step Test. HRR used is HRR 1 min (HRR1min). Spearman correlation test is used to find correlation between body composition with HRR.
Results: All body composition correlated inversely to HRR1min and showed a statistically significant relationship (p <0.05). Waist circumference and body fat percentage are poorly correlated with HRR. Body mass index and waist-to-height ratio are moderately correlated with HRR.
Conclusion: There is an association between body composition with HRR1min. Body mass index and waist to height ratio has a significant correlation with the determination of sample size.
