This paper aims to explain about Indonesia's policy on purchasing Russian fighter SU-35 in 2017. Long process has been passed from the planning of 2014 to the signing of the MoU in 2017 and the signing of contracts in 2018. Various alternatives are also considered carefully by the Indonesian government until finally decided to buy a SU-35 fighter from Russia. Research shows that Indonesia's decision to buy Russian SU-35 fighter because there are several advantages, such as the existence of trade-in-trade schemes with Indonesian commodity products and the Transfer of Technology in the form of Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Sukhoi aircraft development in Indonesia
