PENGARUH FRAKSI MASSA FILLER TERHADAP TENSILE DAN IMPACT PADA KOMPOSIT PARTIKEL ABU BATUBARA DENGAN MATRIK POLYVINYL CHLORIDE GRADE K-65R
Abstract
Coal is a kind of sedimentary rock derived from organic sediment. It is usually used for power generation processes. Its ash is the burning residue of the perfect coal. Its ash is divided into two namely bottom ash and fly ash. Its ash includes toxic and hazardous waste materials (B3) that will increase annually, thus it needs a proper utilization in order to reduce environment polution. This study addreses the effect of coal ash addition in PVC on mechanical properties and of the composite material being fabricate.
Mixing between matrix (PVC) and filler (Initial Color formula) using mixer machine with temperature 100oC. After the matrix and filler has been mixed then added a reinforcing substance namely fly ash by shaking. Variations of fly ash content of coal are 8phr, 8phr metal, 10phr, 10phr, 20phr and 30phr metal, in order to obtain perfect results. The manufacture of specimens using Hot Press Molding machine that is set with temperature conditions 200oC for 20-25 minutes. This research uses three kinds of testing namely Tensile test with ASTM D638-02A standard, Impact Charpy test with ASTM D6110-04 standard and observation with photo Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).
The results of the study explain that each variation has advantages. The strength of the specimens increased during the addition of fly ash with concentration variation of 8phr and repeats a decrease after the addition of fly ash. The concentration variation 8phr on yielded a good score on the tensile test, which averaged 40,566 (MPa)and concentration variation 10phr was good score in the impact test for impact energy and impact strength,this score is 0,237 (J) and 5,368 (KJ/m2). The researcher recommends to use an 8phr concentration variation for specimens capable of resisting flexure and 10phr concentration variation capable of withstanding shock hardening. This test can still be developed from filler digs and this test can also be tested with various tests that have not been done in order to get perfect results in every variation
