On 20th March 2017 the East Timorese former independence fighter, Francisco Guterres Lú Ólo was elected to be 4th president of the East Timor. In the election Lú Ólo was able to win the election in a single round. This study aims to determine the factors that support the victory of Francisco Guterres Lú Ólo in the election. The theories and concepts used to analyze the research problem are the concept of campaign strategy and the concept of coalition strategy. The research method used was descriptive method research by using secondary data. While the technique of data collecting through the library researc by utilizing books, documents or reports. The result of this study show that Lú Ólo's victory in the 2017 presidential election was backed by the campaign strategy which using by Lú Ólo and the vote-seeking strategy coalition that used by the Fretilin party in garnering mass support
