      Abstract
      Background: Incidence of stroke will always increase each year, therefore, effort of prevention by eliminating the risk factors, i.e. hypertension, diabetes melitus, dislypidemia, obesity, smoking status, age and gender. Methods: This study used cross sectional design, by comparing stroke risk factors profile in man and woman patients. Ninty four samples of stroke outpatient in RS PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta neurology department were used in this study, consisted of 47 man and 47 woman. This study used independent sample t test, Mann-whitney test and chi square to analyse the data. Results: Analysis test about the differences stroke risk factor profile in man and woman based on the value of sistole blood pressure obtained p = 0,889 (CI 90%), diastole blood pressure p = 0,279, total cholesterol p = 0,004, blood sugar obtained p = 0,309 CI, and the difference a history of smoking in men and women obtained p = 0.001. Conclusions : This study showed no significant difference between blood pressure and blood sugar in male and female stroke patients. However, there are significant differences between smoking status and total cholesterol.
