      Abstract
In today's modern era, technological, transportation and information advances make it easier for humans to move from one place to another. The ease can be felt and utilized as shifting from one country to another. It was also handled by Patani students (Thailand) whom some of them chose the Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta as a place to study. This study aims to find out the problems that arise in intercultural communication between Patani and Indonesian students at the Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta. This study uses the qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis used is qualitative descriptive analysis. There were four respondents in this study, namely two Indonesian students and two Patani students. The results show that communication occurred between Patani and Indonesian students will gradually make it easier for both of them to find out information about the surrounding culture. Besides, Patani students use verbal and nonverbal communication more often. Also, mutual respect between the two becomes the main reason for Patani and Indonesian students to interact more efficiently.
