Background: Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is still a major problem in health sector while around 80% of maternal deaths are caused by an increase of complication that occur during pregnancy and childbirth. Postpartum hemorrhage is the biggest causes of maternal mortality. The lack of oxygen in the myometrium muscles can cause uterus contraction not as adequate as it is, so it can lead to postpartum hemorrhage. This study aim to know the relationship between anemia in pregnant women in trimester II and III with the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage. Method: A non-experimental study with a case control design using secondary data medical records. The study used 58 sample meeting the inclusion criteria and regardless of the exclusion criteria that control or give birth at the Tegalrejo Health Center Yogyakarta. Data analysis used chi-square test. Result: The results of the bivariate analysis showed that anemia in pregnant women in the second trimester had a significant relation with the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage obtained (p value=0,010 ; OR=4,156 ; 95% CI 1,382- 12,493). Whereas for anemia in pregnant women in the third trimester did not have a significant association with the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage obtained (p value=0,119 ; OR=2,200 ; 95% CI 0,651-7,436). Conclusions: There was a significant relation between anemia in pregnant women in second trimester with the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage. There was no significant relation between anemia in pregnant women in the third trimester and the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage.
