Relationship between Knowledge Performance and Clinical Skills Assessment in First-Year Dental Clerkship Students
Abstract
Objective: The mastery of knowledge was underlying the ability of a skill. Several methods have been used for assess the ability of dental students in both domains. The aim of this study was exploring the relationship between the knowledge-based assessment and clinical skill of dental students.
Method: In this study, the assessment data was related to Dental Clinical Case Knowledge (DCCK) and Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) from first-year dental clerkship students that have been accomplished the integrated dental pre-clerkship program. CDK test was using 100 items of multiple-choice question (MCQ) with vignette-type. OSCE was assessed with nine stations that have represented the whole skill domains.
